Hospital Leadership

Kevin Kast

Kevin Kast
President/Chief Executive Officer

It has been my blessing to be in the healing profession for over thirty years in various leadership roles. I am especially proud to be one of the current stewards of this remarkable caring ministry. Our employees care for one another, and for our patients, as if they were Christ, in the face of another. Our goal is to offer only exceptional services, technologies and facilities to our patients while assuring God's healing presence in all we do.

Theresa Rutherford

Theresa Rutherford
Chief Operating Officer

I have accomplished my professional growth one step at a time, one role at a time, adding education and experience along the way. I started my nursing career at St. Mary’s in 1979 as an LPN. Over the past 27 years, I have been blessed to work with many wonderful nurses and mentors. I previously served as St. Mary’s Hospital in the role of Assistant Administrator and Chief Nurse Executive. I am a nurse. I am by heart, mind and profession a patient advocate. Each and every human life is a precious gift. Regardless of where our patients are in their lives, be it a time of birth, of growth, of maturity, of healing, or the precious moments as the human body ceases to function, we are here to be of service, to meet their needs, to offer support and share our skills and gifts. We make a difference. We are St. Mary’s Hospital.

Chief Financial Officer

During my childhood, I learned integrity, a strong work ethic and caring for others was the only way to conduct your life.  As my life and career progressed, I have always retained those value systems. One of the reasons I joined St Mary’s was the hospital’s values were identical to the way I was raised.

As I walk through the hospital, it is clear I have joined a caring group of community supporters, volunteers, staff and physicians who work together to maintain the dignity of everyone that has contact with any part of this exceptional organization. As one of the newest members of the administrative team, I am a direct beneficiary of such warmth, kindness and respect. I have found St. Mary’s Hospital to be a vision of how people should treat one another. For the people of St. Mary’s, living out the hospital values of respect, care, joy and competence is a way of life. As the hospital grows, it is my goal to never lose focus of who we are and why we are here. The health and wellness of friends, family and the community are very important in fulfilling our mission here at St. Mary’s Hospital. We are committed to remaining a leader in meeting these needs and in making Decatur and the surrounding communities a better place.

Dr. Granzotti

Maria Granzotti, MD
Chief Medical/Chief Quality Officer

As the Chief Medical/Chief Quality Officer at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, my role is to coordinate quality measures for our hospital staff, including staying informed on the continually updated best practice recommendations, evidence-based medicine recommendations, national patient safety goals and Joint Commission regulations—all working within the guidance of our core values of joy, respect, care and competence.

Quality is very important to us at St. Mary's, and it affects every aspect of your care experience, whether you enter through the emergency room, outpatient surgery or inpatient admission, for example. Quality care crosses and connects all of the departments of the hospital, tying together related and multidisciplinary issues. When we talk about quality, we include various things like physician credentialing, ongoing physician practice evaluations and quality performance measures. At St. Mary’s, we have a comprehensive process to measure and track our performance across a wide variety of quality areas.

With a background of Board certification in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine as well as experience working as an emergency room physician since 1992, I bring years of hands-on experience and a familiarly with the local medical staff to my administrative role at St. Mary’s.

I am truly blessed to be a part of this healing mission.

Glen Griesheim

Glen Griesheim
Assistant Administrator

I began my career in healthcare while I was in high school. During this period I volunteered in the late 1980’s for a local rural ambulance agency. I have been working for the Hospital Sisters Health System since 1990 and here at St. Mary’s Hospital since 1999. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunities to participate in this health care ministry in the past, and am tremendously excited about our future. I have many years of experience providing direct patient care and feel this experience has engrained the support of our core values; respect, care, joy and competence. I truly believe that the dedicated employees of St. Mary’s have made the greatest contribution to our past and future.
