Prominent Decatur Men Line Up for the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign
Decatur, IL - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, October 2009, St. Mary’s Hospital, WSOY/Neuhoff Media, and StormCenter 17 are sponsoring the 3rd Annual Real Men Wear Pink (RMWP) campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of an annual mammogram. St. Mary’s, WSOY/Neuhoff Radio, and StormCenter 17 encourage the men in the community to wear pink each Friday in October and to encourage the women in their lives to schedule a yearly mammogram.
The 2009 Real Men Wear Pink campaign will officially kick off with a live WSOY radio remote at The Brass Horn’s annual Trunk Show on Friday, October 2nd. The Brass Horn is donating a portion of every pink item sold in October to the Friends of St. Mary’s Foundation – Real Men Wear Pink campaign.
This year, Lori Kerans, Head Coach of Millikin University’s Women’s Basketball team and Chair of the St. Mary’s Oncology Advisory Council, is assisting with the RMWP campaign. She has worked with Millikin and area high school football teams to schedule RMWP games, where each school will participate in some way and hold fundraisers to benefit the RMWP campaign.
