I’ve been honored to be a part of the St. Mary’s Behavioral Health Services team for over seven years. I first joined St. Mary’s as an intern in 2002 and was happy to accept an offer to join the team as a licensed social worker upon my graduation.
Working in the Behavioral Health Services area of St. Mary’s allows me to make a positive impact on the lives of our patients every day. No two days are the same since we offer a full range of behavioral health services for children, adolescents and adults. But every day gives me the opportunity to provide compassionate, personal care to my patients and their families.
I’m just one part of the Behavioral Health Services team at St. Mary’s. My colleagues are an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to serving the behavioral health needs of the Decatur community. St. Mary’s is the only local hospital with a full range of behavioral health services, and everyone on the Behavioral Health team is truly passionate about helping our patients get better. Many of our nurses have been with St. Mary’s for over 20 years because they know that exceptional behavioral health care makes a difference in people’s lives.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role at St. Mary’s is seeing people get better––progressing from their moment of crisis to stabilization and then to a successful return to the community. Our patients come to us for help in a very vulnerable time of need, but I know that with the right mix of compassionate care and personalized treatment, people can and do get better. I’m honored to be a part of this important work that happens only at St. Mary’s.
