St. Mary's Hospital - 1st Floor
Since the founding of St. Mary's Hospital over 128 years ago, spiritual care of our patients and their families has been an integral part of our healing mission. The Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis dedicated themselves to the care of the sick and the poor and, through their work, embodied and revealed the healing love of Jesus.
Professionally-trained chaplains are available 24 hours per day to offer spiritual and emotional support to patients, their families and staff. Chaplains interact with religious leaders of all faiths to provide seamless support for our patients, especially during times of uncertainty. They serve as liaisons between the health care team and the family during crisis, and they may talk with the family about the patient's wishes regarding the use of life support. They will provide opportunities for prayer, sacraments and spiritual rituals the patient and/or family may desire.
Chaplains are available to explain Advance Directives (Living Will, Power of Attorney for Healthcare) and to assist people who want to complete these documents. There is no charge for this service. A chaplain also serves on the Ethics Committee at St. Mary’s and is available to assist with moral and ethical issues.
SHARE Support Group
The Pastoral Care Department oversees the SHARE support group for parents who have experienced the death of a baby during pregnancy, at birth or in early infancy. This group meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in St. Mary’s Hospital Rm. 130. For more information, call 464-2045.
Chapel
The hospital Chapel is located on the hospital’s main floor, adjacent to the administrative offices. You are welcome to visit the Chapel at any time.
