For over 50 years, volunteers have played a vital role at St. Mary's Hospital, brightening the days of patients, families, visitors, and staff. In May 1954, St. Mary's Auxiliary was formed, its purpose “to assist in the hospital care of the physically, spiritually, and mentally sick.” At the time, membership was just one hundred ninety. Today, St. Mary's benefits from the service of over 325 men and women, eager to assist with flower deliveries, Gift Shop sales, patient transport, and a host of other needs in all areas of the hospital. Over the years, Auxiliary contributions have exceeded $2.5 million, providing television sets for all patient rooms, an organ for the Chapel, a communications system, treadmills for Rehabilitation Services, a lift for the whirlpool therapy room, and many pieces of hospital equipment.
We are blessed to have so many loyal, hard-working volunteers. Their contributions of time and talent fulfill many hospital needs and add another touch of care and compassion to the people we serve.
St. Mary's is currently seeking volunteers to fill a number of exciting positions. Please consider joining this group of talented individuals. For more information about volunteering at St. Mary's Hospital, please contact Community Relations at 464-2510.
