Donate Life Month Donor Drive

In 2003, Donate Life America and its partnering organizations declared April “National Donate Life Month,” a time to focus on encouraging Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to celebrate those who have saved lives through the gift of donation. In 2016, more than 33,000 people began new lives thanks to organ transplants.

To encourage organ donation, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital will host an organ, tissue and bone marrow donor drive Wednesday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main lobby of the hospital. At the event you will be able to sign up for the organ, tissue and bone marrow registries, as well as learn a little more about what it means to be a donor.

Representatives from Macon County Life Goes On Committee, St. Mary’s Hospital and the Macon County Health Department will be there to answer questions and assist individuals signing up to be a donor.
