HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital’s Real Men Wear Pink (RMWP) campaign launched in 2006 and is celebrating its 10th year in 2016. The campaign, originally started by the American Cancer Society and HSHS St. John's Hospital, raises awareness about the importance of breast cancer screening.

Each year during September and October, local high school football teams and Millikin University participate in the program, by playing a “pink game” and raising funds to support RMWP and the awareness the campaign provides. Football players expect to win—so too do women and men battling cancer. Football players and coaches from these area schools proudly wear pink to show their love  for their mothers, grandmothers, aunts and sisters; because they want their communities to believe we can battle cancer and win; and because we are all on the same team.

Mammography

Mammography uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. Mammograms can help detect early breast cancer in women experiencing no symptoms, as well as diagnose breast disease in women with lumps, pain or nipple discharge.
